CodeKitchen #7: Digitize Motion | August 17, 2016

Visualize and animate with Motion Capture Data and 3D Studio Max

Taught by Sumbul Khan & Akash Vibute

Ever wondered how computer generated characters look so life-like in animation films?

With motion capture systems, designers can digitize and recreate finely nuanced motion of humans, animals and objects. Current technology in motion capture systems offer comprehensive and precise data, immensely benefiting diverse application domains such entertainment, medicine, life sciences and engineering. With motion capture data, designers can analyze complex motion with ease and use it for customized designs.

The workshop was hands on lab. It introduced participants to the working of an optical motion capture system. Participants learned how to use motion capture data for analysis in Vicon’s Nexus software, and for quick animations in 3dsMax.
